Friday Morning Classes




Announcing Friday Morning Classes in the Community House No. 2. at 402 North Main Street in New Harmony. Classes begin at 9:00 am CST, June 19, 2026.

All classes are held on the second floor of the building. There is a ramp and an elevator for those who choose not to use the stairs. 

Please contact the individual class instructor to reserve your spot in class via their provided email. All reservations and class fees will be handled by the individual teachers.  Without further ado, your Friday morning classes include:

Homestead and Harmony:  A Set of 3 Rick Rack Rounds 

Belinda Karls-Nace / Blue Ribbon Designs

What do you get when you combine cross-stitch, rick rack, sewing pins, and a few charming embellishments?  A set of Rick Rack Rounds, of course!  Homestead and Harmony is an exclusive trio of round pinkeeps inspired by the historic charm of New Harmony, the excitement of the 1st annual Threadworxs Fair, and a touch of summer patriotism in honor of the Semiquincentennial.  

In this 3 hour hands-on class, you'll arrive with your pre-stitching complete and leave with at least one fully finished Rick Rack Round.  I'll guide you step-by-step through my signature round pinkeep finishing technique - perfect for bowl fillers, home décor, or heartfelt gifts.  We'll also explore alternate finishing ideas and dive into tips, tricks, and materials that make finishing fun and approachable.

Pre-Class Info:
  • Pre-stitching is required.  
  • Floss and fabric are not included - DMC and hand-dyed thread options will be included with the pattern.  Participants should use their choice of 32 ct linen or even-weave, or 16 ct Aida.

Agnes Ure - 1824

Robin Laukhuf / Olde Willow Stitchery

Agnes Ure 1824 contains elements of 18th century needlework.  This is a reproduction of the original housed in the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio.  The model exhibits a classic alphabet and a central manor house.  This beautiful artistic piece has many specialty stitches along with cross stitch 
over 1 and 2.  The stitches included are Satin, Four-Sided, Algerian Eyelet, and Tent Stitch.  

Choose to stitch this sampler on either 46 count, 40 count, or 32 count Cedar River Linen, 
"Coffee Stain" with A Soie d'Alger silks or DMC floss.

Bowl Full of Cherries

Join me for a sweet workshop where we will create a charming "Bowl Full of Cherries" themed 
counting pin set - perfect for adding a pop of color to your cross-stitch projects and pinkeeps.  In this class, you will learn how to create polymer clay beads and watch a wet felting demonstration.  We will explore techniques for shaping, texturing, and assembling cherries, leaves, and summery accents into your own custom set of pins.  

Whether you are new to polymer clay or a seasoned crafter, you will leave with a unique set of cheerful pins that are as functional as they are adorable.  This hands-on class includes instruction for securely attaching your handmade beads to pins, plus inspiration for adapting the theme to your personal 
stitching style.  Each student will end class with a completed set of 5 counting pins, along with a delightful way to store and add to your pin collection!

Happy Birthday, America!

Sylvia Stecker / Running With Needles & Scissors

In this class. you will receive a full kit to stitch the top, and a drawer box to mount this small patriotic piece.  There will also be paper available to line the box.  

Class participants will begin finishing the box with paint (provided), and with time, get to the distressing stage of the process.  Students will learn how to. mount the finished stitched piece , for a flawless finish.  

The kit will include the pattern, finishing instructions, linen, floss, needle, lining paper for the drawer, cardstock for mounting the finished stitched piece, and batting.
